Welcome to my little corner of the internet!

The Short "Official" Version ;)

C.L. McCollum (she/they) is a card carrying disaster bi of a SFF author. While living the neurodivergent spoonie life, she writes YA and adult in a variety of SFF subgenres. Her adult debut, a rural fantasy novel set in a paranormal trailer park, is on the road to publication with Falstaff. She also will be appearing in THIS HOUSE IS HAUNTED, a YA horror anthology coming next year from Page Street Kids. Previously, she has also appeared in anthologies with several micro-presses and has also edited and appeared in the CLICHES FOR A CAUSE self-published charity anthology series. She thinks “What is your favorite book?” is a trick question and impossible to answer, but if you have an hour to kill, she can talk about the hundreds she loves. Currently, C.L. keeps it weird in the Texas Hill Country with the family she loves and their furry roommates. You can find her at home at https://linktr.ee/clmccollum.

Now then, for those who are here for the author babble: I am a 30-something writer currently living in the Texas Hill Country on 2 acres with a husbeast, a bebe, a bitten, a skitten, and a Jesse pupper.

I’ve been writing pretty much as long as I can remember, but it’s been a long road to admit to myself that I actually want to write professionally.

"I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine."

-Emily Dickinson

I am a fan of the fantastical and far out there. Science fiction and fantasy have always littered my bookshelves, so it’s probably not a surprise that ended up being the genre I write in most often. I’ve dabbled in steampunk and post-apocalypse, some fairy tale retellings, some classical literature retellings, and there’s even a magical realism in the works, too. Mostly, everything I write will have at least a slight speculative/fanciful edge to it. That might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I just can’t resist writing out the wonder that comes to mind.

My debut novel, a queer trailer park urban fantasy called 13 COUNTY ROAD 666 is pending publication with Falstaff Press (April 2024), and I will also have a story in Page Street Kids' THE HOUSE WHERE DEATH LIVES (August 2024). I've been previously already published in several micropress anthologies (though sadly most are now out of  print), as well as our own Herding Cats Press's Clichés for a Cause charity anthology series which I and contribute to and co-edit. Just drop by the “Books” tab up at the top of the page for more info!

That's all I have for now. If you have any questions for me - feel free to toss them at me on any of my social media pages. I swear I don't bite!
